Second Class 2019-2020
We've been learning about Grace Malley and her adventures around Howth. We wrote stories and letters based on some of the legends.
We used a reverse print technique to create art work based on the story 'How to Catch a Star' by Olivers Jeffers.
Trick Or Treat for Temple Street
Shoebox Appeal Assembly
This week our class organised and ran an assembly for the school. We all had different jobs to do. We designed invitations for the other classes and posters to decorate the hall. We read out stories of children who received shoeboxes last year and explained to the children how to create their own box. We also gave out certificates to the children in the different classes. After assembly we delivered information leaflets around the school.
We went on an autumn nature walk this week to look for signs of autumn. We kept a special eye out for any brent geese that may have arrived from Canada for the winter.
We studied line in the environment and then used rulers to create our own spider webs. We also used marble ink and black paper to make some spooky autumn sunset scenes.
Last week we read the story of Oisín in Tír na nÓg. We each created a different scene from the story. We added voice-overs and music to create our own movie.
This week we learned about the musical notes. We practiced the scale on chime bars and boomwakers and then we used the notes to play Twinkle Twinkle.
This month we will be completing the Mé Féin section of Bua na Cainte. Here's the first poem we've learning this year - 'Buail ar an Doras'.
