📚 World Book Day 2024 📚
We celebrated World Book Day on the 7th of March. The children dressed up as their favourite characters and authors. They also wore cosy clothes for reading.
The hilarious Mr. Read came to read to the boys and girls. He brought the characters to life with his funny voices and actions.
Each class went on a ‘Where’s Wally’ Walking Trail around the school. They answered questions about popular children's books and authors. Each class earned a certificate for their good work.
The staff enjoyed making the Masked Reader videos and the children’s excitement could be heard throughout the school, as they guessed which teacher was reading.
The children participated in class competitions. They designed book covers, created character profiles and wrote book reviews. Two children from each class won a homework pass.
We also refocused on our D.E.A.R. time. (Drop Everything And Read) this is where we prioritise reading in every classroom for 10/15 minutes a day, everyday. The children are encouraged to read for pleasure.
