Last week we participated in Phase 2 of the Food Dudes programme to promote healthy living. Each day fresh fruit and vegetables were delivered to the classroom and sampled by the kids, as they learned about the health benefits of the variety of fruit/veg on offer. It must be said, that everyone in St. Helen's was hugely impressed with the positive attitude displayed by all the students in Room 6 to this initiative, and it was so encouraging to see the positive relationship that they are already developing with food, and their understanding of how healthy eating can benefit their overall health and wellbeing. With the possible (understandable) exception of the peppers ((:), everything was devoured, so much so that any leftover fruit from other classes was delivered to Room 6 to be shared. As it was so eloquently put to me by one child, Room 6 is the brown bin of St. Helen's!!!
