St Helen's Junior School hosted a very special occasion on the 23rd of January 2025. Each year, as part of Catholic Schools Week, we invite the grandparents of our First Class pupils to our school to see our classrooms and hear some songs and very special written pieces.
This year, for the first time ever, we were able to invite the grandparents of the Junior Infant pupils as well as the grandparents of our pupils in rooms 23, 24 and 25. Grandparents shared their memories of school and the songs and stories they learned. The children really enjoyed listening to the comparison of the classrooms then and now.
After the craic agus ceol in the classroom our VIP guests made their way to the hall for tea, coffee, scones and chats. Here they could peruse the grandparent portraits and identify themselves and watch a beautiful sideshow of photos prepared by Mr. Horan. We concluded Catholic Schools Week with an assembly for Junior and Senior Infants and an assembly in the afternoon for First and Second classes. The children in Senior Infants and Second Class had the chance to showcase the beautiful work they had done about their grandparents.
